Husky Cafe!

We finally made it!

I have wanted to go to the Husky Cafe since we got to Bangkok and possibly before, whenever I first looked it up and found out they had one. I don't know how it took us more than 2 months to actually make it there but we finally did it.

The place we went to is the only husky cafe in Bangkok called True Love @ Neverland. They have about 25 huskies and hold sessions 1 to 3 times per day depending on the day.

You go and spend 350 baht ($10) which gets you a piece of cake and cafe drink. You hang out inside the cafe (or outside if you are early and get lucky seating) and sit with your friends for about an hour. Then you watch a quick video that talks about the huskies and what you can and can't do. They lead everyone to take off their shoes and wear little blue shoe covers, wash your hands, and then sanitize them. All of this is for the safety of the dogs. You then get one hour to spend with the huskies out in a paved and gated area.

Naturally huskies are fiercely individualistic and smart dogs and these are no different. Add on top of that that these dogs are completely doted on by strangers 1-3 hours a day and you get smart dogs who don't need you and are generally completely uninterested. They don't need attention so people just flock around them as they laze about. Secondly these things are huge and fluffy so there are bowls of ice around for them to chomp on and fans everywhere in an attempt to keep them cool. The owners are in the pens with the people giving treats and generally making sure everything is going well.

The dogs clearly love their owners and I was really glad to say that they seemed Extremely well taken care of and not abused in any way. The only have to be around strangers a maximum of 3 hours a day and I think it is a really good set up through and through.

This little guy was only 2 or 3 months old and on his 3rd day on the job. They were constantly around him and monitoring him and only had him stay the first half hour.

They also had two Australian Shepherds and two gigantic sheep dogs. I can only imagine that they were there to keep the peace but they were so cute.

Honestly for 350 baht I thought it was an absolutely awesome experience and I was doubly excited that the dogs were well taken care of and not abused in any way. I am so glad that we finally made it!

Here is a picture of one of the dogs who literally slept the whole time and everyone loved petting him.
