Ravello

Get ready to see literally just pretty pics of me because my friend had a nice camera.

We got off the Ferry in Amalfi and this time it mercifully did not do a full circuit around the island on the way home and immediately hopped on a bus up to Ravello. This was just Renee and I as Jackie wasn’t feeling well. Ravello is breathtaking and up on the hill it is much quieter community that the hustle and bustle below but it just as beautiful if not more. We went to a beautiful garden by the cliff which held the “Terrace to Infinity” which is this beautiful terrace high up on the mountain that just stops. I don’t know how else to describe it it just stops and its so abrupt and high up that it just goes on and you can see the sky and the sea and they seem to meet in infinity and meld. It is beautiful.

Naturally we took about a million beautiful shots that really turned out well and you can see for yourself when the wifi comes through haha. It is a beautiful thing and I have only seen one thing similar to it in New Mexico after taking their sky trolly I was then able to walk out along some sort of metal contraption and it just went off into nothingness. There were only side railings and the end had no railing. Looking back I have no clue what that was, why it didn’t have an end railing, or why I was allowed onto it… But it was still pretty!

Also one thing to note is that Renee had a beautiful camera. I know nothing about cameras but it took good photos and I learned a small bit about how to use it and I’ve got to say, I’ve never been one for a fancy camera before but after this trip I’m honestly considering it. I have an iPhone SE and my friend’s iPhone 8 and X’s impressed me but this “Real” camera was simply on another level and I really liked it. It’s fun and nice to have real, high quality photos from your trips and the difference really is there.

Also I’ve discovered in these few weeks that I’m actually like the best friend photographer when it comes to angels, framing, and telling people how to pose when they’ve got something amiss. I enjoy it too which is nice so I think it could be quite fun.

The Terrace to Infinity is the location of some famous book being written by some famous philosopher or writer or something as well. A fun fact that Renee told me but I honestly don’t know who or what. It was attached to a wonderful and beautiful garden, one that Roman royalty used to hang out in so that was pretty cool. As it was there was a wedding going on in part of the garden while we were there so that was pretty fun.

We ended up stopping for food in Ravello before heading down the cliff/hill down for Atrani. The place we stopped had super reasonable prices but simply amazing food. I had a garlic and pepper spaghetti for like 10 euros but little did I know that they also added home made fresh ricotta cheese on it as well which was wonderful.

We then started the trek down the mountain which while we were only really going downstairs actually made my calves tight the next day. It was quite the little trek and also the same hike that I had failed to find the day before so I was glad to have finally made it. Again, I had planned at the end of the day to write about it but by the time we got home (well past 10pm) I was Exhausted and just passed out as we were getting up early to head to Positano the next morning.

Here's me trying to touch an arch. The lighting and angle work to my advantage but do not be fooled. I did not reach.

And lastly a pretty picture I took that has no where else to go so here is a peaceful ending to this post.
